MIRACLES FOR KIDS GIVES CHOC PATIENT THE RIDE OF HIS DREAMS
Terminally Ill Child Gets His Special Wish, Rides In Favorite Sports Cars And Gets Private Tour of DC Motors
January 18, 2011 (Tustin, CA) – Miracles for Kids, a non-profit organization based in Tustin, CA, announced today it sponsored a special event for 14-year-old bone cancer patient Homero Ventura and his family on January 7, 2011. Miracles for Kids arranged the event at the special request of Ventura to ride in “the car of his dreams” and included a ride in a Ferrari F430 from Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC) to DC Motors in Anaheim Hills, CA, where he was taken on a private tour and driven back to the hospital in a Bentley Continental GT.
“Riding in the Ferrari and feeling the power getting onto the freeway was awesome,” said Homero Ventura. “Then seeing the [Lamborghini] Diablo was the best part of my day. It was really fun and cool!”
Miracles for Kids Grant Program has helped support Homero and his family since January 2008 with monthly financial aid, food and household goods, during his treatment period. The Grant Program, which has been operating exclusively at CHOC since March 2006, provides aid to patients and their families who are in a financial crisis as a result of their child’s treatment for a life-threatening illness.
“Seeing his smile changes everything. It reminds us despite his battle and the eventual loss, a day of joy, right now, is his entire world,” said Autumn Strier, president of Miracles for Kids. “Watching the smiles on his step father’s, mother’s and sister’s faces, who all got to be a part of his special wish granted, is a gift we don’t often get. It was a wonderful day for all of us at Miracles for Kids.”
“This day has meant so much to Homero, his family and our oncology team. Words cannot express what Miracles for Kids and DC Motors has done for this child,” said Areeckal. “Homero’s smile was worth not a thousand words, but a million words. It was indescribable. We thank Miracles for Kids and DC Motors from the bottom of all of our hearts.”
